The equipment consists of different standardized metal vanes, which are inserted into the soil under study. Using a torque wrench, the soil resistance is recorded as a cylindrical failure surface is generated.
With the obtained value, the in-situ Undrained Shear Strength (Su) is determined. Due to the characteristics and speed of the test, multiple measurements can be carried out in a short period of time, allowing the determination of a representative value for the tested soil type. This value can then be compared with results obtained from other tests, either in-situ or laboratory-based.
