The GRIZZLY® is a constant-energy heavy dynamic penetrometer (DPSH), designed for compaction control and soil investigation. The GRIZZLY® is an innovation developed by Sol-Solution.
Rod extraction is integrated into the driving mast and does not require any additional equipment.
Its movement is all-terrain, thanks to the crawler system of the machine. Installation is very fast, due to the hydraulic adjustment of the driving mast inclination in four directions.
The GRIZZLY® is equipped with a computer and software that automatically records measurements and performs calculations in situ simultaneously.
This test consists of determining the soil’s dynamic penetration resistance. The number of blows required is counted for 5 cm diameter steel rods with a 50 mm diameter, 60° cone tip to penetrate 30 cm (1 foot), under the action of a 63.5 kg hammer dropped from a height of 75 cm. The GRIZZLY® dynamic cone test also provides the soil resistance profile and, therefore, the competence of the different strata at depth.
The DPSH penetrometer, owned by Geotecnia Patagonia, is self-propelled and transported in a specially equipped van for this purpose.
